Question

Weblink - How to better display unknown file extension types?

asked on March 11, 2014

IIs there any way to add icons to weblink for unknown file extension types, or to display the file extension?

I can't see any of those options but was wondering if anyone else had helpful tips on how they solved this issue themselves.

Thanks!

Those are just images stored in the WebLink directory.  If you make your own, WebLink should see them and use them.  By default, they are installed to C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\WebLink 8\Web Files\Images\edocs

You can extend this technique a little bit with a sprinkling of JavaScript. Check out this Question. You should be able to adapt the code to swap out the icon for one of your own. This would be especially useful if even if Laserfiche didn't recognize the file type, the users had an application that could open it.

Brian,

That's a perfect solution. Thanks!

Can I make a suggestion? That info would be good inside the administrator's manual.
