Any one experience poor performance and/or timeouts with Trend antivirus running on the server that is hosting Laserfiche server.  Server is a win2012 64-bit.  If Antivirus is on at all, clients experience EXTREMELY slow and/or timeouts.

As a rule of thumb your antivirus for Clients should avoid scanning the following (as per Miruna):

Here are the names of the scan engine EXEs:

  1. ScanConnectClient.exe (ScanConnect)
  2. FileScanClient.exe (Universal Capture)
  3. WIAScanClient.exe (WIA)
  4. LFTwainClient.exe (TWAIN)
  5. LFKofaxClient.exe

They're located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor. For older versions, the file names don't contain the "Client" part.

Other files you should create exceptions for are: BPSessionClient.exe (also in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor), BPOMniOCR82.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\BPOmniOCR164) and ThumbnailGenerator.exe (in the Scanning install folder, usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Client\Scanning\Utilities). For LF 9.1 and higher, the OCR executable is called LFOmniOCR.exe and is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Laserfiche\Batch Processor\BPOmniOCR185.

I have heard of problems with real time scanning as well, so you may want to disable that feature on the server so that every file being written is being scanned and becoming a bottleneck.

You may want to exclude it from scanning the lfs.exe service along with any other Laserfiche services you are running on the server.

I was going to do this, but with real time scanning turned OFF, would I still need to exclude these.  I might be confusing what real time scanning is. lol   I will try this.

I have experienced with Trend Micro WFBS that it even though you have Real-Time Scan off, you still have to stop the Real-Time Scan Service, too.  I also found it helps to make sure you have all the latest patches and that sometimes I had to exclude EXEs specifically, not just their parent folder.

Hope that info helps,

~John

You will probably want to exclude the services any ways because if you perform another type of scan you wouldn't want it to cause problems with those services. With Real Time scan turned off, it should stop it from scanning each time a new document is received, opened, downloaded, copied, or modified in the repository.
