Question

Workflow will not let me publish because "Attach Electronic Document" Activity returns warning

asked on March 7, 2014

In my workflow definition, I have a token with a properly formatted filepath for the server's local disc. I wanted to use this in an "Attach Electronic Document" activity but when I set everything up, it says "File to Attach: The file to upload has not been set"

The version is Workflow Designer 9.1.0.328.

Am I doing something wrong? I have given the workflow server the ability to browse the files from the "File Browser Options" area of Workflow Administration Console, so I am somewhat stumped as to why this is happening. It appears that I cannot even use a token anywhere in the definition of the filepath.

This is a bug in Workflow that we are aware of. As a workaround for now, you can import the document to the Workflow Server.

I have the same issue. Alexander, can you explain a little further about the workaround please?

Also, is there a timeline for the fix? This bug has shut down many critical workflows that I use.

Thanks!

An update: After further investigation, I am kept from publishing the WF, but the activity is working just fine. I can successfully attach electronic files from the server local disk.

A fix for this issue was initially released as part of https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1013456. Though If you do decide to update Workflow, I recommend just downloading the latest patch in https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1013462 (which includes the earlier fix).
