Question

Kodak i2600 and Duplexing

asked on March 7, 2014

After upgrading the client to 9.1 from 8.3, duplexing from the scanner toolbar has not been working.

If I select TWAIN, duplexing isn't an option.

If I select WIA, duplexing is an option, but it's ignored.

Duplexing can be forced through the scanner options menu, but not the toolbar.

I kicked the client up to 9.1.1.486 (from 9.1.0.1441) and installed the latest driver updates from Kodak... no luck.  [Windows 7 64-bit]

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

For TWAIN and WIA, we can only use the options that the driver offers, we don't have any control over them. What if you try scanning through TWAIN using the scanner's default application. Is the option working there?

Sorry about the delay.

I thought I had e-mail notifications set up; apparently not, or else the spam filter ate them.

It's only the paper source dropdown that's not working (and as mentioned, it worked in the 8.3 client).  It's as if it's no longer reading the options presented by the driver.

TWAIN duplexing works fine everywhere else, including manually setting the scanner options and/or using the driver settings (though it seems to reset those each scanning batch as well).

It can be worked around, but is a lot more inconvenient for mixed batches than simply clicking the paper source dropdown.

In 8.3, the options presented were automatic/feeder/duplex (IIRC).

In 9.1, it's only showing automatic/feeder (when using TWAIN).

HI, is there a solution to this? My customer seems to be having the same issue as well.

Paper source  dropdown shows only Automatic. File/scanner options shows automatic AND automatic(duplex). user said in 8 , they used to see duplex optin in paper source dropdown.

For what it's worth, I ended up replacing that particular machine for other reasons.  The dropdowns ended up working as expected on the replacement PC, with a clean install of the current Kodak drivers and the 9.1 client.

Seems like something got scrambled with the upgrade, that even uninstall/reinstall wouldn't fix.
