Is lfmobile 8.9.0.42 compatible with users running lf mobile app 9.0.2 ?

This is taken from the Laserfiche Mobile Help documentation for 9.1:

 

Software Requirements

  • Laserfiche Server 8.2.1 (Laserfiche Rio or Laserfiche Avante license), Laserfiche Server 8.3.0 (Laserfiche Rio or Laserfiche Avante license), Laserfiche Server 9.0 (Laserfiche Rio or Laserfiche Avante license)
  • Web Access 8.2 and up
  • Laserfiche Mobile add-on 9.0

 

According to that I would say that it is not.
