Question

Cannot store the document after manually altering the field data from Zone OCR

asked on March 6, 2014

I have a session that does basic Zone OCR and uses the template fields to define the document name and folder path to save the document.  When Zone OCR initially populates the field with bad data, QF lets me manually enter data into the field, and the corresponding field in the document name changes in the 'Document Revision' pane, but when I try to store the document, I get the errors, example: Zone OCR put gniqm into the "Pay Number" field, which I cahnage manually to 201202.

Cannot store field data 'gniqm' in field 'Pay Number' for document 'Abram. Eilene_9861_Pay# 201202'.

Full screen session image is below

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Something I have done in QF sessions is use tokens to fill the fields and use a conditional sequence or a pattern match to ensure that if the token for the field is not of the expected value-type, then it will blank out the token. That might help with the errors.

Why is the value coming through wrong though? Is the zone OCR process overlapping on certain fields?Maybe use a higher quality OCR process "Accurate"? you might want to make that zoneOCR for the fields into a page processing step where you only do it to the first page if this is a multiple page document.

Is your installation up to date on the hotfixes?

Also, try setting the Character preference option to Letters. It's located in the Advanced options for the Zone OCR process.
