Laserfiche Print Question (non secure redactions)

asked on March 5, 2014

One of my Government clients has a question about the print output from 9.1. In the past (v8x) when a page had a "White" redaction and you printed the document and under options Secure redactions (unchecked) the output included a grey box around the redaction box. Today v9.1 no grey box just pail look text. This functional change is a problem for us, can you provide an solution.

- Client's comments...

It has been our practice to apply redactions in white (not black) so when we print out a secure copy all redactions essentially disappear instead of having a black box over them.

However when printing non-secured redactions they always appeared to have a grey box around the redactions whether we used white or black.

We just printed a package (redactions applied in white) and instead a grey box it simply made the font paler.  We have tried different files just to test and it appears to be on all of them.  The only way to get a grey box is by having redactions in black, which is not desirable.

Since version 8.3, printing non-secured redactions yields different results depending on the color of the redaction. For a black redaction, a transparent grey box will show, but with a white redaction the font simply appears lighter. This is meant to distinguish the difference between a black or white redaction, and requires less ink for the latter. In either case, the change in color should indicate that a redaction is present.

Is there a reason that this change in functionality creates an issue for your client? If you give us a little more information, including a use case, perhaps we can come up with a work around.
