Question

Opening Folders Using Web Access

asked on March 5, 2014

I currenly don’t have access to Laserfiche Client and I am using Web Access Temporarily. I have access to other team members folders however their folders are hidden from view normally. I access these by typing in the path to browse to them. Is there a way to browse to a path within web access? I cant see anything obvious?

It sounds like you'll probably want to use the search functionality to accomplish a similar task within Web Access.  You can use the "Within Folder" search type to find all the entries within a folder, so in this case, it sounds like all you'll need to do is enter the path in the Web Access search instead of the Location bar from the desktop client to navigate to the appropriate files.

Shouldn't you be able to search for the folders?

You can use search as Rob mentioned to find accessible entries under hidden folders.

Alternatively, if you know the entry ID of the folder, you can access it directly via a URL link such as:

http://Web_Access_Server_Name/laserfiche/index.aspx?db=Db_Name#id=Entry_Id;view=browse.

You can generate the link for any entry in web access via right-clicking on the entry and hitting "Copy Link" in the context menu. For a full list of available Web Access URLs please see the webhelp.

Thanks for your responses. Okay so assuming I don't have the entry ID, I know that my colleagues might have a document in their shared area that might help me but I don't know the name of it at all. If I use the search facility and enter the path to search their folder and also use a text search I get an error back

"the specified operation is not recognized" 9051

Does the error still occur if you only run the Folder search? What about if you only run the Text search?

Can you post a screenshot of the search and include the advanced search syntax? The advanced search syntax can be viewed in Web Access by clicking the button on the upper-right corner of the search pane that has the { } icon.
