If I had to guess, I'd say you're running into address space limitations of 32-bit processes.  The desktop client needs to load the image into memory in order to render it to the screen, and that is unlikely to work.  Image file formats support compression and can contain non-image data, so there's no simple number that represents the largest image that you'll be able to load, but I would expect to see failures starting around 2 GB.

There's any number of things that could be happening. You could be running into the limit of what the services can transfer, memory issues, or network limitations.

Good question though. Now I'm curious.

My machine is brand new with  i7 processor with 8 GB of ram and I'm making the the import from my laptop to the repository in my laptop.

Let me make the test with the Kaspersky AV disable and see if fails again

I make a new test and remove from the client the tif format from the list (Client File conversion) so when I make the import do not process the document and in that way the document remain intact.

Now that presents me another question: If I try from webaccess even with that, shows an error and don’t let upload the document. (WA 9.1.0) Does WA have a size limit to import?

See this page for Web Access limits.

Some versions of Laserfiche (8.2 and 8.3) have an issue with TIFF files larger than 2 GB. The issue is resolved in later versions of Laserfiche, since 9.0.2 Service Pack 1.

While that issue was resolved, there is still a 4 GB limit for a single TIFF file. This limit is applicable to both single-page and multi-page TIFF files.

As mentioned in Brian McKeever's answer, there are additional memory constraints on the ability to load and display large images.
