This is a basic script you can use in a workflow. The difficulty is making it work for multiple users. You will need to get a stamp for each user to have under whatever account you use to connect with the script.
EDIT: Also, you will need to ensure that pages are there for the document. This would not work on a PDF with no associated pages.
I'd stay away from using it with a PDF at all, pages or not. If you add the stamp to the pages the electronic document doesn't change and it will confuse your users if they don't export it correctly.
