Question

What are the command-line arguments for LFScan.exe?

asked on February 28, 2014

Is there documentation for launching LFScan.exe from the command-line? I am aware of at least the following parameters and would like to know all the available arguments:

-c   Specifies 'Standard Mode'

-b   Specifies 'Basic Mode'

-d <ID>   Specifies what document to open for scanning within LFScan

-custom   Allows specifying template and field metadata

The command line arguments documented for web scanning work when scanning from the Client too. However, you have to have the Client open first and logged into a repository.

The format is LFScan.exe -parameter "value". For ex,

LFScan.exe -b -ci "es" -custom "volume:'MyVol'template:'MyTemplate'"

This webhelp page contains all the parameters for launching Web Scanning with custom URL.

Thank you, we do have that documentation. We are interested in taking advantage of LFScan.exe from both the browser and a thick client. Some of the parameters documented for the ScanningService.asmx seem to correlate to the LFScan.exe parameters, but we would like to be aware of all the possible options. Thanks again.

I asked a similar question and was told that the parameters are the same. I haven't gotten a chance to dig into it too much, but so far it seems like you should be able to do anything you want using the Web Scanning documentation in the context of LFScan.exe.

Can this function be programed for processes such as "rotate: automatic" and "crop: top;5px", "pad: bottom;5px" - things along those lines

No, configuring processes is not available through command line parameters.

Do you know how I can configure processes for uses, presets.

Scanning does not support saving more than one configuration. That functionality is only supported through Quick Fields.
