Question

QF cursor focus

asked on February 27, 2014

I have two requests, if they are currently possible please point me in the right direction.

1.We have a customer with a qf session that due to non-standard forms and hand written text, have to do a lot of manual indexing on documents in the Document Manager. They want to process these documents one at a time and store each document before moving on to the next. After storing, they would like the cursor focus to move to the next document in the Document Manger instead of to the output pane and having to use the mouse to click on the next document.

This customer is also using real-time lookup in many of the session classes, they would like the cursor focus to jump to the next open field after the lookup is run. For example, they have a template with Account, Name, SSN & Doc Status. The input field is Account, Name and SSN are populated via the look up and they want the cursor to jump Doc Status so they don’t have to tab their way down.

You can reorder the fields in the session so Account and Doc Status are consecutive. This will not affect the order of the fields in Laserfiche.

You can set Quick Fields to always put the focus in the first field when switching between documents.

And Quick Fields has keyboard shortcuts for going to the next document.

Thanks for your suggestions Miruna, I've previously tried to reorder the fields to resolve the first issue but the customer was against this. We're replacing their older ecm and we're getting a lot of kickback from the scanning department.

For the second quesiont, the keyboard shortcut should work well as a work around for now.

Will you submit the the requests to be considered for future enhancements?

Sure, I can log the requests in our feature backlog.

Do you know  why they rejected the idea of reordering fields in Quick Fields only? It would make the data entry person's life easier and it has no impact on what the rest of the users see in Laserfiche.

Honestly I think the only reason is because it's a change and their scanner/data entry employees resist change.

Thanks for your responses and time.
