Question

Add/Remove Fields and Sharing Saved Searches

asked on February 24, 2014

Is there a Client Attribute I can set that will remove the Add/Remove Fields button from the metadata interface in the Laserfiche Client? Iooked at the feature prilidges and rights but didn’t see anything that looked like it would do the trick.

If I create a particular search in the Laserfiche Client and save it, is the only way to give someone else that same search (short of just recreating it on their computer of course) is the copy and paste from the client Attributes?

Can you give us some more information on why you’d like the Add/Remove fields button removed?  We’ve had this request come up before, but the request generally leads to a discussion about field/template security and how to reconfigure those security rights to align with the proposed solution.  Check out the help files for Securing Template and Field Data for more detailed information on how you might want to set up the field and template access rights.

You are correct that the only way to share a saved search is to export and import the user attribute.

We had the same questions from couple of our clients, as the purpose is to restrict users to add/remove fields.

I do understand the field level security but of-course that's a lengthy process to maintain.

Is field security still the only option if we have to remove the Add/Remove Fields button from the metadata interface?
