Question

Attach Electronic Document workflow activity windows permissions

asked on February 21, 2014 Show version history

One of the WF activities,"Attach Electronic Document", requires permissions on a windows File System. What account is workflow using to interact with the File System? Is this the same account under which the workflow server service operates? Is it possible to specify the account for File System access?

Also, in the "Attach Electronic Document" activity, the property "File to Attach", under Source you may select "Workflow Server Local Disk". Does this mean that the mapped path, or network location such as: \\server\share\folderA\file.pdf will not operate properly?

Thank you

Account used is the WF Server service account. And "Workflow Server Local Disk" refers to drives on the WF Server machine, not mapped drives or UNC network locations. Your WF Server needs to have the file browsing feature enabled.

Thank you Miruna.

I did some testing and the UNC path works. I did not experience any issues. I was wandering if there are some gotchas using this activity with the UNC path that I should be aware of?

There shouldn't be any as long as you take into account that permissions are from the WF Server's service user.
