Question

Update Field and Tokens in MS Word

asked on February 20, 2014

We like the new feature that allows a user to insert Laserfiche tokens into a Word document but is it planned to allow those tokens to be automatically updated on open or via the "Update Field" option. Currently the update field option does not function as other non-LF fields so it is necessary to re-add the token.

This may be by design but our customer asked the question in the hope it may be planned in a future release.

You can use the "Refresh" button on the Office ribbon to refresh tokens without having to re-add them

Perfect, seems obvious now but was distracted with the update field option!

Is there any way to update the resulting metadata information within the body of the text without having to open the document and use the refresh button manually?  Is there, for example, a workflow activity that can update the content of a Word document in the same way that "Assign Field Values" can update the metadata overall?

Hi

I have the same question that I need a Laserfiche response for  it to confirm.

I have a client that needs to  insert Version number token into word document from LF integration tab in MS word.  They also, need the value of the the version number to be updated automatically without pressing the Refresh button.   This is a law office and they think some users will forget to press the refresh button and this an issue for them.  They want this value change dynamically as the version number changes in document version section (either after  new version save  or when opening the file).  Is it possible to automate so the token in the document reflect latest value?   Very much appreciated.
