The IT administrator wants to migrate the users to AD accounts. I am looking for a white paper that would be helpful for him to review as he sets up and executes this project.- They are RIO.
Question
Question
Migrate to AD accounts
Answer
There is not a specific white paper on the topic, but I would be happy to outline the process for you. There are two steps to this process; you must first allocate a license for each new Active Directory account, and then carry over security settings for each user.
First you will have to allocate a license to each new Active Directory user using License Manager. You can either allocate each license yourself, or you can automatically generate licenses using our Active Directory group synchronization. Once you set up group synchronization, your Windows groups will be monitored, and licenses will be allocated automatically. You cannot both use group synchronization and manually assign licenses, you must choose one method.
To carry over security settings from previous Laserfiche user accounts, you can use this conversion utility. This utility carries over virtually all Laserfiche settings and security, and matches each user to the corresponding Active Directory account.
You can check out our help files for information on licensing. For information on setting up group synchronization, see the Rio deployment guide. If you have any further questions during your migration, please let us know.

Is the conversion Utility supported for Version 9. We have client that is in the same scenario for a couple hundred users and would like to verify that the utility will still work with Laserfiche Rio 9.
We are having a similar issue in which IT would like to migrate existing Laserfiche users to Active Directory groups. However, in their trying to, and with the Laserfiche users still named, an Active Directory group was added, and now users receive the "The maximum number of sessions... [9030]" error is received randomly. Users have to be “renamed” before they can login again to the repository. Could you please tell us if there is any information or steps available in doing this in Laserfiche Avante?
There are a couple things that could be going on here. Make sure the AD group has been granted trusted authentication into the repository - otherwise there's nothing telling the repository that members can actually access. Also, note that if you allocate named users to an AD group, what you are really doing is allocating them to each individual user within that AD group. if you run out of named user slots before getting through the whole list, some users won't get named users allocated to them and that may be why they are getting the error. Lastly, note that named user allocations don't transfer from lf users to AD users through trustee linking. If you are trying to keep the existing user accounts intact, I'd recommend using the conversion utility discussed earlier in this thread.
