Question

Can I use 9.1.1 clients with 9.1.0 server?

asked on February 19, 2014

Monday morning I downloaded the latest ISO's from the support site and we upgraded our Laserfiche server from 9.0.3 to 9.1.0. I went back to look something up a couple of hours later and noticed that 9.1.1 had been released.

We haven't upgraded our clients yet. Would there be any issue if we went ahead and rolled out 9.1.1 to the clients and left the server at 9.1.0 until we can schedule another downtime?

Yes, you can use Client or Web Access 9.1.1 to a Laserfiche Server that is v9.1.0 (though not to a 9.0 server). That said, testing efforts are focused on 9.1.1 clients with 9.1.1 servers.

Ok. I'll some testing to verify. I agree with the other posters about being cautious, however, the crappy deploy system used by our desktop team means that I usually only update the clients once or twice a year, unless there's a bug we're running into.

It ends up being easier to schedule a server downtime than to schedule and roll out a new client build.

Have you considered switching over to use the Web Access client? This will vastly reduce the deployment burden on the IT team.

I am not sure about this specifically, but normally, the LF Client needs to be the same version or lesser than the LF Server version. Because it's such a small version difference, I am not 100% sure, but it may be best to wait to roll out the LF Client 9.1.1 until after the 9.1.1 server has been installed
