Question

WebDAV Mapped drive gives errors

asked on February 19, 2014

Hello,

Our company is using Laserfiche Avante 9.0.2

We have some template files in a folder in our LF Repository which we need to access via a mapped drive.

I have mapped a drive using http://<servername>/lf and everything works as we expect.

For some reason sometimes the mapped drive won't allow access then I have to disconnect the mapped drive and remap it.

Sometimes when I remap it takes two or three tries before it actually works.  Sometimes it will work the first try.

Why does this happen? Where should I be looking to figure this out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should I be using WebFolders instead? As shown in this support article.

Or does it sound like I need to configure SPN? As shown in this article.

We map to our WebDAV using http://<IP address>/lf. I also find that if I open the LF client first, it helps. We are running in a Citrix environment and had LOTS of problems getting our WebDAV configured properly. We are still working on issues with Mail Merges through MS Word and saving PDF files directly to the WebDAV drive.

I found out that what the problem was in our situation.  It was the Kerberos Authentication.  There was a Security Event in the Event Viewer that I had missed that could have pointed me in the right direction.

What I did was run a PacketSniffer like Wireshark and capture the packets as I was trying to connect to see what was going on.

I could see that there were Kerberos errors so I looked them up and I read somewhere that if your server's times are out of sync then you may have the problem with Kerberos Authentication.

So once I made sure my LF Server (SQL and LF Server on same machine) and Active Directory Server both had the same time then the problem was solved.

Hope that helps.
