Question

mutliple variables in single field

asked on February 19, 2014

Is there a way to use multiple variables from Forms to popluate a single template field?  For example, Variable for Last Name and First Name on the form, but combine those variables on the Template to put in the Name Field.  So it would look something like this:

Form:  Last Name = Foxhoven

Form:  First Name = Daryl

Template Field:  Name = Daryl Foxhoven

When I try to use multiple variables in the same field (in Process Modeler to "Save To Repository), the documents get saved, however, they're being stored there with no Template Assigned.

Hey Daryl,

This is definitely possible with Forms. I'm running Forms 9.1.0.1441 and just tested this and it works!

As an example, here's how I setup the multiple variables in the process modeler under my service task 'Save to Repository' :

when this form is saved to the repository my Title field is a combination of the two variables.

I would recommend checking Forms, updating to the latest version (if you haven't done so already) and also check your metadata field settings to make sure it is the right type of field (text, date, etc) and is the correct size to store multiple variables.

This method basically appends the two form variables into the template field.  What if you want to take those two form variables and place them into a template field that allows multiple values?

Example:

These values come from a single-line form variable and a collection variable.
