Question

LF Client and Server not in the same domain

asked on February 19, 2014

Is it possible to login LF Client using windows account for a PC which is not in the same domain with the LF Server? Example: domainname\username

The PC is still in workgroup and has not join to the domain.

The short answer is no, not on the desktop client. Web Access, will allow you specify a domain, however. As Devin mentioned you can use LDAP authentication.

If you are on Rio, you will have to configure license manager to use LDAP accounts as well. Also, users will then have to login with their username in the format of username@domain.xxx.

Yes, this should be possible. Our initial rollout of Laserfiche happened before we'd gotten off of eDirectory. In that environment, the clients were essentially in a workgroup and the servers were in an AD domain.

If you look at the Users and Groups > LDAP Management > Server Profiles node in the administration console you'll be able to add a reference to your AD domain.

You'll need to set up a domain account that has permissions to do queries against the AD.
