Question

Question

how to create additional virtual directories

asked on February 18, 2014

Hi,

We have installed Weblink 8.2 and I can't find instructions on how to create additional virtual directories for IIS 7.5. The instructions provided in the online admin guide are only for IIS 6 and IIS 7.

When I look at the IIS manager I currently have the default WebLink8 application and creating an additional virtual directory in the default website doesn't seem to do it.

Thanks.

The IIS7 instructions should suffice. First, I'm assuming that you need multiple instances in order to make customizations to one and not the other?

You need to copy the base WebLink instance. The default location for that is: C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\WebLink 8\Web Files

I'd put that copy somewhere other than the program files directory. In fact, I don't really recommend using the base WebLink instance for anything. Turn it off, ignore it, do whatever, but don't rely on it. You want that one to stay fairly stock so that you don't have to worry when an upgrade blows it away.

Then you should be able to create a virtual directory in IIS and point it to the copied folder.

Finally, you can use the WebLink administrator utility to attach the virtual directory to the repository.

Great, I will give this a try.

Thanks!

I had to create an Application instead of a Virtual directory and have it assigned to the WebLink8AppPool application pool.
