Question

Question

Recommended scanner

asked on February 17, 2014

Our department requires the following scanner functions:

·         200 DPI minimum

·         Must produce multipage TIF format

·         OCR

·         Duplex

Has to have flat bed and document feeder.

We are using Laserfiche 9.1.

What scanner is recommended for these specs?

Thanks.

We really don't have all the needed factors to give a good recommendation.

Here are some assumptions I will make:

  1. It will be used as a production type machine scanning 6hr or more per day
  2. It needs up to 11inX17in capacity

Based on your requirements listed and my assumptions, I would recommend either:

  1. HP Scanjet Enterprise Flow N9120 Flatbed Scanner
  2. FUJITSU Document Scanner fi-6770.

There are other options available, but the 2 I list above are great workhorse production scanners.

NOTE:  Make sure you also have/get LF ScanConnect so that you will be able to use the ISIS driver and scan directly into Laserfiche.

Bert,

This scanner will have much lighter duty than a production environment. This is the scanner I am looking at:

Fujitsu fi-7260.

What do you think?

Thanks

I do not have any experience with that model, but the Fujitsu scanners are very reliable and dependable scanners.  As long as the model you are looking at meets your use needs, a Fujitsu should be a good choice.

Glen,

Laserfiche has a web page with a list of supported scanners.

http://www.laserfiche.com/en-us/Scanner

If you are scanning into Laserfiche the multi-page tiff option is not required, as you can export  out in that format. Other than that, your requirements are pretty standard. I tend to lean towards Fujitsu scanners if possible; they are a little more expensive but are worth it. Most also come with bundled software so if you did need to scan to multi-page tiff outside  of Laserfiche you would still have that capability.

And Scan Connect would be preferable for ISIS scanning.

Hope this helps!

I noticed this link no longer works. Where did this move to, Laserfiche?
