This is an admin question. How do you enable a user to be able to scan documents into a Laserfiche folder but once the doc is there make it so they cannot edit it. The edit right seems to be required for them to be able to scan documents in. I am using LF 8.3.

Answer
On the folder the user is scanning into, allow only Browse, Read and Create Documents access rights - this will allow the user to scan in or import into that folder, but will not allow them to edit the doc once it's in there.

Actually, you can just give the user the browse, read, and create documents access rights (and nothing else) on the folder in question. That should allow the user to scan documents, set the metadata at scan time, store the documents, and once stored, that same user will not be able to modify the document.
Ok, thanks. We had a problem a while ago with something similar, and somebody told us to try adding modify permissions and that fixed it. I don't remember the circumstances, maybe it was a different underlying cause.
The only scenario I can think of relates to scanning into an existing document.
Correct. In order to scan, you'll need to have both permissions.
One solution is to create an Intake folder that all scanning for a particular area or document type goes into. Create a Workflow that moves the document out of there into another location. Attach a starting rule on the create event and the workflow will run almost immediately after they store.
