Redaction with stylus and tablet?

asked on February 11, 2014 Show version history

Is there a recommended solution for redacting with some sort of pen or stylus?  I have user who is responsible for redacting large amounts of contextual data (so it can't be done programmatically). Does Laserfiche natively support  a tool like the wacom tablets or anything like that, rather than having the user point and click with the mouse?

Hi Samuel,

We are looking into the annotations recently, such as: freehand drawing with stylus. Your use case is helpful for our research and we'll definitely look into that and see if we'll be able to provide the function within upcoming releases along with rest of the features.

Meanwhile, there's tools like graphic drawing pad that designers use for painting as a workaround if mouse clicking is too much.

Right now, on iOS app, annotations are all read-only and on Android, user can only search for the annotation but not supporting the viewing yet.

We'll have features with annotations coming up soon.

Thanks Julia. We are considering using a touchscreen monitor.  Hopefully that will accomplish our goals.

Even if they don't natively support them, applications that don't support touch or styli generally fall back to treating it as a mouse. You should be able to use the client to do redacting just fine. I'd recommend a stylus simply for the accuracy. Fingers on a capacitive screen aren't very accurate.
