Question

WebLink Rio Licensing

asked on February 10, 2014

I am wondering how many WebLink Rio Public Portal servers can be licensed if WebLink is purchased once.  I thought that you could install multiple WebLink server instances as long as it tied back to the same Laserfiche Server and repository.  When I went to update the Rio License Manager Master License file it threw an error saying that too many WebLink servers were licensed exceeding the Master License.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Your understanding of how it should work is correct. You can have multiple instances of WebLink installed, but the Public Portal configuration (i.e. the ability to have anonymous users log in) can only be done on one Laserfiche Server.

I think it would be best if you opened a Support case so that our engineers can check your master license. (Also, make sure you're running the most recent version of License Manager.)

If you are talking about the "Trim Database to License" dialog that appears after you update your Rio master license, then note that there was previously an issue with our License Server where the guid for WebLink changed whenever a new Rio Master License was generated. The WebLink guids in the license database no longer match up with the guids in the new master license. This issue has been fixed. For now, just click "OK" on that "Trim Database to License" dialog. The only thing you should have to do afterwards is to re-register the WebLink application instances and generate new WebLink licenses. Then replace the old WebLink licenses with the new ones. Now the next time you update the Rio Master License again, this won't be an issue.

Hi Ege,

Thank you for you response. I'll open a support case for this issue.
