Office Plugin in Web Access

asked on February 10, 2014

Hello, I have been having an issue with the Web Access Office Plugin and wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Although the plugin has already been installed, every time  a user tries to open an office files, it prompts them to install the plugin again. In some cases when it seems to be installed, it attempts to export the file rather than opening it in the native application even though it is set to open in the associated application.

Have you completely closed then reopened the browser? Have you tried restarting one of the computers where this is occurring?

I have encountered cases where the Office Plugin was not detected, but either restarting the browser or the computer fixed the issue.

Some additional steps you can take to troubleshoot

  • Opening an Office program like Word and checking that the Laserfiche tab appears
  • Uninstall (from Programs and Features) and re-run the install as an Administrator
  • If restarting your computer has not fixed the issue, you can look at the registry keys. The registry keys and some other information is documented in troubleshooting devnotes by the Office Plugin development team.

Also, I was unclear: I meant to ask if this was occurring on different computers, not if it was occurring for different Laserfiche users.

What version of Web Access are you using?

Is this issue specific to a single user? What web browser are your using?

It sounds like Web Access has not detected that OP is installed. This may happen when the install is unable to complete due to browsers or Office applications being open during the install. It may be necessary to restart your browser (and close Office applications) or restart your computer. More information on your specific situation will help to troubleshoot.

Hello, I am using version 9.1 and have been using Chrome and IE. This is not specific to a single user.
