Question

PDF in and TIF out

asked on February 10, 2014

 Hi all,

The Quick Fields version 8.3 is able to process pdf. So that is pdf in, however the document stored to the Laserfiche repository is tif, that is tif out.

In short pdf in and tif out. Is it possible to get pdf out too so that the ultimate document in Laserfiche is also pdf?

There is a setting in the Laserfiche Capture Engine that says "Keep PDF after using it to generate Laserfiche pages.". It behaves differently depending on some other selections. You can read about it here.

I did that, but if you separate the document, just some of the documents end being a PDF. how can I make sure every document out will be a PDF?

Yes, in QF 8.3, it is "keep original PDF file" in the PDF Retrieval tab in Capture Engine's properties.

I'm doing a process where a separate the documents, but its no keeping the PDF format.  if I have 3 documents and they become 5 just 3 PDF are shown.

All is processed correctly and the PDF is preserved in Laserfiche

Was this ever figured out?  I'm seeing the same result.  First document is a PDF all the rest are set as Laserfiche documents.

This is expected behavior. If the PDF's pages are separated into multiple documents, QF can't make copies of the PDF to attach to the extra documents. The PDF stays with the document created from the first image page.
