Question

What format should the SSL cert be in order to enable the client to connect via SSL? is .pfx ok or does it need to be .cer?

asked on February 10, 2014

I have a wildcard SSL cert that I will be creating the SSL cert to enable https for the LF Server / Client connection. What format should the cert be created in? Will .pfx work or does it expect the .cer extension?

Setting up SSL/TLS for the Laserfiche Server involves referencing a certificate that's already in the computer's certificate store, and similarly when the Client attempts to validate the certificate it will do so by making reference to the certificate store of the user account that it's running as.

I believe Windows can handle importing a certificate from either a .pfx or a .cer file, and Laserfiche shouldn't need to make reference to any certificate file directly.
