Configuring Email Approval Settings Problems

asked on February 7, 2014

I am trying to setup the "Configuring email approval settings" in LF Forms. When I click the Test button it says "Email test failed. Failed to connect to the email server xxxx.xxx.xxx.xx.xx:143. This issue can occur if the specified server does not support IMAP."

(X's include our actual email server address.) I have used the exact same settings (except for Inbox folder) on my phone with IMAP and it connects without any problems. Is it possible that the error is because I have not entered the Inbox folder correctly?

I discovered the problem was with the SSL certificate on our Exchange server. It was not setup properly. We have done an upgrade of the server this summer and the communication is now working.

If Inbox folder is not correct, it will alert "Email test failed. InvalidFolder doesn't exist."

And if login user is not correct, it will alert "Email test failed. LOGIN Login error password error."

I did receive a certificate warning when I setup the IMAP on my phone and I had to tell it to continue with the warning. Would something like that cause a problem?

Is there anything else I can check on that might be causing this problem? We are really wanting to use this feature.

Are you using IMAP with SSL? If so, the default port is 993. Try with that port and see if it works now. Another test you can do is using Gmail's IMAP server. It's imap.gmail.com with port 993. Supply it with a valid gmail account and make sure to check the "SSL" box at the bottom. Test that and see if it's successful for you.

Hi Blake,

Did Alex's suggestions help you resolve this issue?  We are having the same problem trying to set up direct approval.

Thanks,
