Question

Insert a page using Quick Fields?

asked on February 7, 2014

Is there a way to insert a page as part of a Quick Fields session?

Example: We scan documents which include 1-4 pages of a standardized form, followed by any additional supporting documents. We would like to insert a one page "Patch Code" between the end of the form pages and the beginning of the supporting documents.

You mean, you would like scan 4 pages and have QF create a 5th page for you and  add it after the scanned pages? That is not possible.

If the page exists somewhere in your repository, then yes, WF can copy it into other documents. If you're looking for something to generate the patch code and make an image out of it, then none of the LF products does it.

That is correct. Is there any other way to accomplish this? Workflow?

Is your goal to create a slip sheet for later use when scanning the completed form back in for those other documents?

this could be done via a workflow script that copies a document, adds text boxes to that document, then copies that entry as the last page of your entry.

I've created something similar to this before for a client where they needed various documents signed and returned. I used this method to create a cover page in a format that quickfields could easily scan, and then when they returned the signed item I'd strip that cover page and place the document in the repository as a new version of what that previous document was (putting a text box without a line or fill around it and a 24 point font works great for this).

Then you'll have to play around some but you can use the custom for pixel perfect placement.

We are passing the digital documents to a 3rd party who is not using Laserfiche. They require that the patch code be placed between the form pages and any additional documents included with the form.

Our current process is to manually insert paper copies of this patch code prior to scanning. Very inefficient and time consuming!

Since we are only responsible for scanning and naming the documents, I'm simply looking for a way to automate the process of copying/adding one page.

Miruna - Could you point me in the right direction? Which process/feature would I use in WF to copy an existing document in to the middle of another document?

Thanks!

The move pages activity will do what you want.
