WebLink Search Results

asked on February 7, 2014

On a WebLink search I have a client that searches for a file name and it won't give the results. However if he puts a wildcard "*" he gets the results? Is this normal?

The welcome page search options are configured in the WebLink Designer under the "Search Options" tab. Please confirm that you have the "Entry Names" option selected there. Next, please make sure that "01 - Legal - Billy" is the complete name of the document.

When you say file name do you mean an electronic file or a scanned document?  Also what search are they performing?  IS this a file and folder name search for a template field search?

When WebLink first shows up you have the search window. The item they are searching for is a Document named "01 - Legal - Billy". If the customer searches for this nothing is returned. If he searches  for "*Billy*" the file is returned as a result.

I also wonder if either WebLink or the Laserfiche Server is trying to process the dash as an operator, instead of part of the string. Does searching that phrase in quotes make a difference? That is, actually putting "01 - Legal - Billy" into the search, not 01 - Legal - Billy ?

The options in WebLink Designer was set to "Fields" only I changed the options to include entry names. Customer is going to test and let me know the results. Thank you for your help
