I get this message when I click on the Laserfiche server. I have no idea what it means, there is no KB article or any information on the error code. There is no next steps. Does anyone know about this message or if it means I need to be correcting something?

Rio License Manager Error 2044 The licensing database has been disabled

Make sure that your Services are all started. I like to also set all my LF services to run via the same user whether that is your domain admin account or another account that is created for services. After that check your event viewer. Most likely there are entries there each time that error occurs.

It appears this error is caused by having another license manager installation on the same network, even if it is not activated.
I had this happen to me this week. In my case the following happened:
- installed network card on the vm and the fingerprint changed causing a license lockup.
- returning the vm to the previous configuration did not solve the problem and I received the same error in License Manager.
In my case I had to deactivate using the old fingerprint. launch the activationtool.exe found in the installation folder from the command prompt with the following:
ActivationTool.exe -deactivate -key ABCDE-ABCDE-ABCDE-ABCDE-ABCDE -fingerprint 1234567890ABCDE1234567890ABCDE12 -hostid 00-11-22-33-44-55
you will need your key, OLD fingerprint (found in license manager) and hostid. easiest way is to get some of this information is with KB 1012618.
once you deactivate, run activation again and generate the master keys in license manager. you may have to re-license each instance of app you have installed in your environment. After the activation worked, I re-created the license for Laserfiche server and placed the licx file in the Laserfiche Server install folder. Once I did that Laserfiche Admin console showed the correct version again and all was well.
Hope this helps.
Sounds like the licensing database and the activation are not in sync. Was this a brand new database? I have had issues like that before and had to manually deactivate as Cliff mentions, then do a manual activation with the activation tool, save the license created and then add that into the database in LM through the update master license.
We have not tried it that way. I will see if I can re-connect to the server next week and give this a try. In the meantime ff anyone knows what the code means it would be really helpful. It is much like the check engine light is on and we are tearing apart the engine without checking the code first. Except the engine is not in our garage and it requires multiple resources to schedule to access it.
To get more information about this issue, check the application event log on the License Manager Server computer. You may also try enabling License Manager logging and set it to the debug log level. If you need further assistance, please open a case with Laserfiche Support.
I was able to clear the error by reloading my master license.
Being disabled usually means that the master license was in use two places on the same network, or the hardware fingerprint is invalid (if, say many changes were made to the machine).
Contrary to what was mentioned earlier, it is supported to have multiple installations of license manager, if they have different licenses or only one is active. Using the same master license twice will cause the behavior described in this post, as that is not a supported use.
If the database gets into the disabled state, but there is no other database with the same master license, you can first try restarting the service to bring it back online. (Note that if there is another database that cause the disabled state, one of the databases will simply go offline again).
If that does not work, your HWFP might have changed, in which case you would need to deactivate and reactivate your master license.
The Laserfiche License Manager is started. I have tried running as a local administrator and local service. The activation is successful. I just get this message when I click on Laserfiche Server or Web Access, etc. When I try to Install the Server components it does not allow me to activate with Rio License Manager.
