Question

Add in personalized help hover fields for forms label?

asked on February 7, 2014

I was wondering if anyone had tried to add in an asterisk or some type of marker that you have created inside of forms for the purpose of delivering a message to those who might have questions about the particular field in a Form.

I want to give little clues to the users that are filling out the form for the first time or forget what a specific field is used for.

That feature is already built it. If you go to the Advanced tab of a field there is the tooltip. This will add a question mark next to the field label and when you hover over it will present the text entered in the tooltip.

Sometimes you stare too long at something and it's right in front of you. Thanks

One thing I will be looking at doing is using a jquery library to make so when the field is in focus it will display the tooltip off to the right of the field instead of them having to hover over the '?' mark.

Probably easier to use text above the field instead of a tooltip, in that case.

It's actually really easy to do as it is built into the jQuery UI library.

Yes, JQuery UI has a lot of nifty features like that. :)

I realize that this is an old thread, but have any of you implemented jQuery UI for popup use? I've no experience with it, but am trying to configure it to allow a mouse-over popup to replace the built in tool tip function.
