We have Laserfiche standard server version 8.2 and want to use Avante license. Is it best practice to upgrade LF 8.2 to 9.1 then plug in the Avante license?
The difference between Team/United and Avante is only the license file. There is no need to re-install the LFS software to upgrade from Team/United to Avante. So it truely does not matter if you upgrade the licensing before, after, or during upgrade of the LF Server service. As Blake notes though, it is often nice to make 1 change at a time to make sure you have that working before moving to the next change. But for a licensing change (Team/United to Avante), I am very comfortable doing the license change during the upgrade of the LF Server service.
I don't think either way is the wrong way to go. I personally would feel more comfortable upgrading to 9.1 so I know that is the only change during the upgrade and then changing my licensing to Avante.
