Question

Email Web Access Link from LF Client

asked on February 3, 2014

 Hi,

My users would like to be able to email a web access link directly from LF Client. Currently, it generates a .lfe shortcut and attaches to an outlook email. While this works well, it is sometimes more convenient for users to click a URL and have the entry pulled up in WebAccess.

How can I make this happen directly from LF Client?

Cheers!

You can create a custom toolbar button in the Client using CAT to dynamically generate the Web Access URL. Here is a sample program for setting up custom toolbar buttons in the Client. Here is the webhelp for Web Access URL syntax.

I believe the only current way to do this is by utilizing Workflow to create the Web Access link for you and sending it.

Yes, this certainly makes sense in many use cases. But for ad-hoc document email situations, I was hoping there was a method to do so that I was missing...

You could create the Workflow and mark it as a Business Process. This would allow the Laserfiche user to run the workflow ad-hoc.

Is their any intention for Laserfiche to incorporate a function in the client which will allow a native ability for Users to email a Web Access URL instead of an LFE. It seems that with the on going improvements with Web Access this will become more of a requirement.

Blake I like your suggestion but this will require a Metadata field be assigned in order for the user to input an email address then pull the field as part of the business process.
