Question

WebLink Opening Electronic Files

asked on January 31, 2014

How can electronic files be opened efficiently in WebLink, just like they are with the Win32 client and WebAccess.  Our Win32 clients and WebAccess are configured so that PDFs open the standard viewer (we TIFF overlay all PDFs), but .MSG files open in the with the original app, (ie. Outlook).  With Weblink it is much more restrictive, in that all electronic files either open in the original app, or in the standard viewer.  We need to have more granularity, just like in the Win32 client and WebAccess.

tks

This is a feature that the WebLink team has noted and is currently on their list of features to include on a future release.  If you have a good use case to go along with this feature request, I'd suggest leaving it here so the WebLink team has a good idea of how to best suit your needs.

Is this part of a larger solution?  If you'd like to provide some more information, we'd be happy to look into alternative solutions to hold you over in the meantime.

The feature request I filed is to have a separate the option for opening the TIFF pages of documents that have PDF electronic files from those that have other electronic file types.
