LaserFische freezing for past week after adding dynamic fields

Hi,

 

Since adding dynamic fields Laserfische on our users computers has been freezing up and the users must force exit the program before they can continue working. Is there any way to try and replicate this (we haven't found a way) or a fix?

If your list contains many values, then you can take advantage of two new attributes that are available in Laserfiche 9.0.2 and higher. Please see KB 1013198 for more information.

 

You can now use the [Settings]CacheFieldValues and [Settings]MaxDropDownLength trustee attributes to control drop-down list behavior for list fields and dynamic fields. Set [Settings]CacheFieldValues to Yes to turn on caching for list fields and dynamic fields to speed up list re-loading. Enabling this attribute will also configure the Client to only retrieve list fields and dynamic fields once per client instance. Set [Settings]MaxDropDownLength to the maximum number of items to display in a drop-down list field or dynamic field. List fields longer than the limit will no longer automatically display all available items in the list until you enter enough characters for the auto-complete feature to retrieve a subset of list items. how many options will show up when a user tries to open the dropdown menu for this dynamic field?

 

I think I read somewhere on Answers that the limit was 10,000 items and even with that, the larger it is the more slowdown.

 

I think the recommendation in that situation was to break down the dynamic field(s) further into a parent field that contains maybe the first letter or first two letters of your various options and then after you have chosen that, the options starting with those letters appear in the next metadata field. This would reduce the amount of delay/slowness you are experiencing as well as make it easy for user to get to the option they actually want to pick.

The amount of items added is only 3-4. I don't think there is any slowdown from our users, it will just freeze randomly when working with any item, rather than the dynamic items themselves or the drop down. I will give the attribute stuff a look and see if any of those changes will make a difference.

What version of the client are you on?

The client version is 9.0

What is the exact version? The latest (9.0.3) has a fix for an issue that sounds similar.
