Question

Set wait condition for a Delivery Receipt in Workflow's "Route entry to folder" activity?

asked on January 30, 2014

I was looking at the advanced email settings in a Route Entry to folder activity and I was wondering if we are able to request a delivery receipt on Successful delivery, and then use that as the wait condition for the "routed entry" in the "Wait Conditions" tab of the same activity.

I currently do not notice this as an option but it would be quite useful as we may need to know the user received something but may not care about what happens afterwards (at least for this step of the process to move on)

Delivery receipts are not guaranteed to be sent, they're up to the mail server on the receiving end. But we are planning into adding functionality to WF to monitor a mailbox in Exchange (though, I don't have an exact timeframe/version for the functionality. So, that use case would be covered.

So you are saying we potentially may see this as an option in a future version? And that it would be built mainly for use with Exchange servers?

Yes, our integration with mail servers will be limited to Exchange, at least initially. Like I said, receiving delivery receipts is unreliable, but you would be able to monitor a mailbox for incoming email.
