If the users have VPN access, there's no special configuration needed.  If not, you'll probably want to install Web Access in your DMZ, though in this case Windows authentication won't work.  Another alternative is to have Web Access installed internally with a web proxy in your DMZ that forwards requests to Web Access.

Maybe i should have included that we do have a website on one domain and Laserfiche is installed on a different domain, web access is installed and works internally but not from the public side. When we include a link from our website to laserfiche it just times out?

I am not interested in having Windows authentication work from the outside they will have to login with domain\name and password.

You will need to use one of your external WAN addresses to access from the outside.

The first step is to make a request to your IT department for a port forwarding rule to your Web Access server. Ports 80 and 443 are default. Then request an A record be setup with your DNS provider and an SSL certificate purchased and installed for the Web Access web site. Your IT department / provider should be able to help with all of this. If you don't purchase the SSL cert you can still encrypt the traffic but your users will get a nasty warning about the un-recognized provider.

In the end you should be able to visit something like lfwa.mycompany.com to get to your web access quickly and securely.

The alternative is to use a software based VPN connection to your internal network.
