Feature Request: Custom Queries for Data Source Lookups

asked on January 27, 2014 Show version history

It would be extremely useful if we could perform custom SQL queries for MS SQL and Oracle databases when performing a data source lookup with forms. Similar to what we can do inside of Workflow.

Hi Blake,

Could you please shed some light on your use case? Would that be a custom query lookup when user filling out the form or as a service task?

It would be when a user is filling out a form. We have information that we would like displayed to a user filling out the form that would depend on multiple values as well as values that are multiple tables. Similar to the request I posted for AND/OR logic, we have a lookup for students that we would like to do based off all the information in that request, but also the section a student and teacher are in. So after the teacher is selected then a section is selected. When adding students to the form, we would only want to display students that belong to that section as well as teacher. All of that information resides in multiple tables and not in very friendly retrieval ways. I know it is possible using a Stored Procedure, but we are using Oracle and even if it were MS SQL it would be easier to enter the custom query directly into the Forms interface. Hope that helps.
