Hi there,

In Laserfiche Rio, license are managed by the License Manager. From the License Manager Administration Console you can register a Windows account as a directory named user, much like you would from the Laserfiche Administration Console in an Avante system. By doing so, you will allocate assign a license to the user and they will be able to connect to all repositories on your system, with the appropriate access rights.

The Laserfiche Rio 9.1 Deployment Guide is an excellent resource for general knowledge about Laserfiche Rio! It includes directions for registering a directory named user from the License Manager Administration Console on page 14.

So you do need to register in the two consoles the users.

Next Question about this and AD.

Is there a way to bring a AD group to the LF License Manager without make every user in that group a named user? I know you can uncheck some of the users but my question is more in the way that… Can u use AD group as a concurrent license I mean, any user of that group enter to Laserfiche as a named user but no all at the same time?

Next Question:

What happens if tomorrow somebody deletes a user or group of AD assign. The groups keep in the two consoles (License Manager and LF Administration console) or just disappear?

Hi Gerardo,

Laserfiche operates on a named user licensing model, meaning that every user who needs to access the system will need their own license. A group cannot have one license that its members share.

As for your second question, you can set up Active Directory group synchronization in License Manager, which will automatically handle the allocation and removal of licenses for your users based on their group membership. License Manager will monitor your Active Directory server for changes to the members of the groups you specify, so a user that is added to a group will automatically be given a license and a member that is removed from a group will automatically be removed from your list of named users, according to the rules you set up. For more information on AD group synchronization, refer to page 24 of the whitepaper I provided above.

Hi Kelsey,

Here's a challenge for you. I have a scenario that I am busy investigating for a customer:

What if I want to setup 6 Laserfiche Servers across 6 different domains? I have windows accounts configured on the License Manager.

1. Can DomainA\UserA connect to LaserficheServerB on DomainB?

2. Can I have a separate AD Group called "Laserfiche Users" configured within each Domain and have licenses automatically allocated to users added to their respective groups?

Thanks

Sheldon
