Question

Has anyone done an integration with PayPal and Forms?

asked on January 23, 2014 Show version history

We have a transcript request form that automatically calculates how much is owed based on the amount of transcripts requested and if it is standard or rush delivery. We take payments through PayPal and currently just provide a link. We would like to be able to pass the Total Amount value to PayPal so when they have selected Online Payment and click Submit it would redirect them to PayPal and auto fill the amount due and give a description of the product being paid for.

Has anyone done an integration like this with PayPal using Forms or could point me in the right direction?

We haven't tried an integration like that, but if you already have a page that can link to paypal, you could consider embedding the form in that page and then passing the appropriate values to it for paypal to use. Here's the place in the online help that talks more about modifying the embed code for a form.

It might be more straightforward than that. The PayPal developer documentation seems very good.

Are there any plans to have a native integration within Forms for PayPal or other payment gateways?

Is there enough demand to warrant that? I believe they are changing a lot of internal things to Forms to make it more customizable, so they might not need to make it native.

Support for payments is a popular request we've gotten and it is one that we're investigating. I can't say it will happen in the next release of Forms, but it's not out of the question for a future release.

Kenneth, payments through forms would be extremely useful for any city/government (LF's largest user base) or education organizations because of their need to collect payments from the public. So if a native integration with the main payment gateways is possible, it would be very welcomed.

I agree with Blake. We are currently replacing several 3rd party apps with Forms to consolidate as well as save cost. A payments option is almost required for Forms to be competitive.

Thought I would add my two "sense" in... integrating the ability to pass and receive data from a payment gateway such as paypal would be extremely useful.  Our municipality could benefit greatly from a service such as this.

I agree with Blake. I would definitely consider a payment integration a value add for our Highway District.

An integration would help within our district as well.

We'd love to see this feature come to Forms.  I can think of half a dozen applications in our municipality where this would be useful.

We have had 4 requests for this in the past month alone. There is clearly a lot of demand.

I agree with everyone that it would be amazing to have native PayPal integration - that would also help Laserfiche reach so much more people.

For the time being, I have setup PayPal button through our PayPal account, then copied the HTML code and put it on the "Thank you Page" (this is part of the Start Action). Since the iframes do not work with PayPal (easily). This is a hack but it works!

We also have many customers that would like to be able to add a payment integration to Forms.  Has there been any progress to adding this as a feature of Forms?

Just wanted to check and see if anyone has made any progress on this type of integration? We are still looking for a solution.
