Question

Forms putting commas in my address field

asked on January 22, 2014

So we have a Forms putting the address into a field in a Laserfiche Template.  The filed is a multi-value field because they may have more than one address (which includes city, state, zip).  When we leave the address blank (because there is no second address), Forms is putting commas in the template field when it get's stored in Laserfiche. So it looks like this in the field ,,,, ?  We are using the Service Task "Save to Repository"...any ideas as to why these commas would be placed in the field when on the Form that area is blank?

Thanks!

My guess is that Forms is separating the various address fields with a comma delimiter and passing those commas onto the document's metadata field even if the values are blank. I'll need to test it to verify though.

In the meantime, you can have a workflow monitor the repository for documents with fields starting with commas and clean them up by assigning a blank value to those fields.
