Question

How can I cache documents with Laserfiche Mobile for Offline use?

asked on January 21, 2014

We have a court client who needs to cache a certain documents on the device due to intermittent wireless service in the court room. They would prefer to use Laserfiche Mobile on the iPad. They are currently producing a large e-mail with all of the days records attached on a daily basis. The records needed for the day are known based on a look-up from the Court Management System which maintains the docket for each court room.

Is there any way to use Laserfiche Mobile and Workflow to maintain their daily records for their docket?

Laserfiche documents cannot be made available offline in the mobile iOS and Android Laserfiche apps. However, the electronic document part of the LF document (pdf or office docs for instance) can be viewed by 3rd party apps of the users choice. Some of them allow saving the opened edoc that would make it available when offline as well. Google drive and Dropbox both have "make it available offline" features and both can be used to open/upload Laserfiche documents' electronic document part. In some cases people want to prevent this export so there is an option to prevent it on the WebAccess add-on configuration page called "Disable exporting to other apps on mobile devices". Make sure to enable it if you want to make edocs available offline through other apps.
