Question

How long do the Results stay in Forms

asked on January 21, 2014

Customer is using Forms, and wants to store the data from the Form into the Template...primarily in case in the future they ever want to be able to run certain reports on the Forms, etc.  My thought is that this could be done simply by exporting from the Results Page of Forms....but I need to know how long does the information stay there as well as is there a limit to how many results will be in there prior to it purging or becoming unmanageable?  The thought is if it's in a LF Template..it's in SQL for as long as the document resides in LF (which will be forever).

Any input is appreciated.

Forms does not do anything to purge the database, so unless you go into SQL Management Studio and purge the database, the data will stay there indefinitely. In a future release we hope to add features that will make database maintenance easier from within Laserfiche Forms.

As far as I can tell, it stays there indefinitely. Usually, in a database, we are not concerned with a table growing vertically. It is designed to be used and thus we would only store values in the first place that we want.

In my experience, I have not seen any purging of information, though it may be recommended to export the information and back up any Business Processes during any large upgrade. (And even during small updates if the information is truly that sensitive/needed if it were ever to be lost).

I hope to see a response from a Laserfiche Employee though, to help verify my suspicions
