Question

Wet Signature Not Sending Into Laserfiche

asked on January 20, 2014 Show version history

I have taken the Conference VM and copied the fields that pertain to the signature and custom CSS & JavaScript from "Forms BP setup for BPM251: Advanced Forms - Expense Report -> Expense Report with Signature" to our Forms installation. I have it to "Save to Repository". It submits successfully to Laserfiche, but the document does not contain the signature. It is saving the form in Laserfiche as a tif file. Any ideas on what I am missing? Attached is the Forms BP.

Hi Blake,

You were missing one of the custom HTML fields (for the signature image) and there were a few hard-coded identifiers in the JavaScript. The version I uploaded should do the trick.

For everyone else wondering about this, I'll post the slides for BPM251 with the sample business process that includes this wet signature demo, and I'll post some instructions for copying it over and getting it to work on your forms.

UPDATE: The Advanced Laserfiche Forms powerpoint, business process, and signature instructions are now on the support site. Get them here.

Eric, thank you for looking at that for me! I will have to look at it closer to see what I was missing so I don't miss it again. This works perfectly!

There was a custom HTML field right under the one for the done and cancel buttons that was just a div for the signature image. I also slightly adjusted the code to reference classes instead of identifiers for a few fields, and then added classes to the custom HTML field for the done and cancel buttons and the signature itself.

I have followed to the letter the instructions at the link below to add wet signature fields to a Laserfiche form and my form successfully saves within Laserfiche, but without the signature. I have double, triple and quadruple checked that I have followed the instructions to the letter, but my the signature still does not appear on the document saved within Laserfiche.

Please can someone help me deterine what I have done wrong that is preventing the signature appearing on saved forms.

To protect intellectual property, I would prefer not to upload my business process XML file to a public forum and I would instead prefer to email the business process XML file.

Many thanks, in anticipation.

With regards.

If you have multiple signatures on the form, you'll need to make some slight modifications. See this question for more information.

If it's just one signature, the error could be at one of several points in the code. Check the following:

  • you have a custom HTML field with an ID of sigimage
  • your sigdata field is a multi-line field

These fields are used to display and store the HTML encoded signature after the form has been signed.

I only have one signature on the form, although I have another form within another business process that also has a signature that uses the same solution as the other form, which is the one within this Laserfiche Question/Answer, which works but the signature on my more recently developed form still does not, even though it has a custom HTML field with an ID of sigimage and my sigdata field is multi-line field.

On a separate note, can you confirm either way whether or not the solution contained within this Laserfiche Question/Answer can render and function correctly on an Ipad or Iphone, i.e.within the Safari browser running on Apple IOS?

The reason for asking the above question is that I have designed a Laserfiche form with the signature solution contained within this Laserfiche Question/Answer on it and the whole form including the signature element of the form renders well within Internet Explorer and Google Chrome running on a Microsoft Windows operating system, but the signature element of the same form does not render well, nor does it function at all, i.e. it won't accept a signature, within Safari running on Apple IOS.

I can't tell what might be going wrong without looking at your implementation. If you've already got the signature working on one form, you could check both forms against each other to try and pinpoint the issue.

This signature does work on the iPad (2+). I haven't tested it on an iPhone, but there's no reason why it shouldn't work there, too.

Could this solution work on the Safari browser on Apple IOS if the signature objectives were within a HTML5 Canvas?

This solution uses the jSignature library, which works in all browsers that support HTML5 Canvas or Flash.

Hi,

Do you have the same solution for tablets without flash or html 5?

Thanks.

The solution does not use Flash at all. You must have HTML 5 because it uses the HTML 5 Canvas. I have not seen a solution like it not using HTML5.

Can someone provide the documentation for this again? The link is dead and surprisingly we have a client that dislikes the signature popup and wants the signature field embedded straight in the form for less clicks.

Thanks
