Question

How big is the temp.db file suppose to be?

asked on January 20, 2014

Our temp.db file grows to over 100Gb and creates a space issue on our SQL server, to the point where the C drive is full. We than have to reboot the server to clear space, is this normal? How do we go about fixing this issue?

The temp database is used and maintained by SQL Server internally. Questions about its size and management are better suited for Microsoft SQL Server forums.

This sounds like a support issue -- the temp.db file definitely should not become that large. Please speak to your VAR so they can open a case with our Support team.

What was the solution for this?

We have a customer where the temb.db grows to over 90GB in size.

See this Microsoft thread. The first 3 replies have good info on how to narrow down what makes it grow.

How big is the Laserfiche installation? (number of: repositories, documents per repository, concurrent connections, rows in the propval table)

Thanks Miruna,

Repository is big. 20 million documents. 200 users. I will direct the customer towards the MS article.

They are currently using 8.3.x. I assume nothing has changed from a LF standpoint on this in 9.1.1? (architecture wise, before they ask) smiley

There were some minor changes, but not on the scale of 6 to 7 or 7 to 8.
