Question

Does restarting of IIS service effects LF Server Service

asked on January 17, 2014

We are planning  to install Audit reporting on a server which already has LF Server installed.

While installing Audit reporting, it gives a message that 'IIS service we need restarting'. Does this effect the LF Server service as LF repositories are in use at that time.

I don't think installing Audit Trail should turn off the Laserfiche Server service on its own. Generally speaking, installers notify you about any services or programs you need to shut down before installation can proceed. And if you believe it was the IIS restart that caused it, that is easy enough to test: just go to the command prompt and do:

iisreset

Then see if the Laserfiche Server service has stopped. If it has, you can open a Support case and attach the Windows event logs.

I think it does. I have installed it on a test VM and installing of Audit Trail had stopped my Laserfiche Server service. I then had to start the service manually (though it's setup as start automatically).
