Fuzzy search, how to enable / disable within Basic Search by default

I have Use Fuzzy Search disabled in my client options but by default Basic Search is using Fuzzy search. I have to add the "Text" search module, un-check Fuzzy Search, then remove the "Text" search module. Then I can do an exact search in Basic Search.

 

From my understanding modules that are not included in a search should not apply, this is also confusing since you do not know if you are searching Fuzzy or Exact when using Basic Search.

You mentioned that you had to uncheck "Fuzzy" in the search Text box, and I wanted to elaborate on this: the checkbox "Fuzzy" that is available when using the Text search type in the desktop Client will toggle the user setting "Use fuzzy search".

 

This means that if you have disabled fuzzy search in the Options/Setting dialog, the "Fuzzy" checkbox for the Text search type should also be disabled, but if you then check the box on the Text search type, it will correspondingly enable the user setting "Use fuzzy search".

 

You can view the section of the Options dialog by clicking the button "Options..." next to the Fuzzy search checkbox in the Text search type.

You can set the defaults for fuzzy search in Tools\Options\Search. Searches that use the full text index to search (text in 9.0 and earlier, a larger number of items in 9.1) will follow that setting.

Hi,

 

Toggle the option from Tools-> Options. In the Options dialog box, Click on Search->General on the Left hand side of the Dialog box, then you will find the Fuzzy Search option in the Right hand side of the dialog box.

 

Toggle Fuzzy Search Check box to enable or disable (LF Client 8.3).
