Oracle Data Source Requires Read/Write Access?

asked on January 13, 2014 Show version history

I have an Oracle database for Powerschool that we are trying to use as a data source with LF Forms (9.1.0.1441). Using a SQL Developer client and logging in the data does not show up in Tables or Views, but in Synonyms when using a Read Only user. When connecting to the Oracle database using LF Forms, nothing shows up under Tables and Columns. When logging in with a user that has Read/Write access it shows under tables in both SQL Developer and LF Forms. Does LF Forms require the use of a Read/Write user in order to connect to an Oracle database as a data source?

Currently Laserfiche Forms only lists the tables and views owned by the current user for oracle datasource. And it doesn't support synonyms. This should be an enhancement. I read the documentation from Oracle and didn't find anything like "syn.username". Probably he/she wants to give you a workaround for this issue.

Forms does not have access right check when gets data from Oracle server. It parses the authorization info to Oracle and Oracle will check access right of that account and return data if it has access right. The only thing that matters is that Forms should get the same data as in SQL Developer client when log in with the same account. Otherwise, it is a bug of Forms.

I spoke to someone at the LF Conference and they said that we might have to add something before the username like: syn.username in order to get it to work correctly. Do you know if that is correct?
